There’s no doubt that the Catherdral is incredibly well maintained compared to other churches and cathedrals in the UK.

All the staff and volunteers were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the sightseeing route is really clearly laid out.

The website says to allow between 1 and 3 hours, but even at a gentle pace you can comfortably see everything in a single hour. At £17 for an adult, it’s therefore not the cheapest experience, but to see the architecture from the inside it was worth it.

Visiting Canterbury Cathedral was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped through its ancient gates, I was struck by the grandeur and historical significance of this magnificent structure.

Historical Significance: Founded in 597 AD by St. Augustine, the cathedral has been a beacon of Christianity in England for centuries. Walking through its halls, I felt a deep connection to the past and the countless pilgrims who have visited this sacred site over the years.

Architectural Marvel: The Gothic architecture is simply breathtaking. The towering spires, intricate stone carvings, and stunning stained glass windows left me in awe. The sheer scale of the cathedral is impressive, and I found myself marveling at the craftsmanship and dedication that went into its construction.

Visitor Experience: I highly recommend taking a guided tour. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and bring the history and stories of the cathedral to life. Their insights added so much depth to my visit. The peaceful atmosphere inside the cathedral provided a perfect setting for reflection and admiration.

Overall Impression: Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a place of quiet contemplation, Canterbury Cathedral offers a profound and memorable experience. It's a place where you can truly feel the weight of history and the beauty of human ingenuity.

Our visit to Canterbury Cathedral was nothing short of incredible, thanks to the amazing guided tour we had with Robert S. From the moment we reached out via email to make reservations, the process was smooth and hassle-free, with the staff being responsive and helpful.

Robert, our guide, was the highlight of the tour. His deep knowledge of the cathedral's history, architecture, and significance was impressive, but what made the experience even more special was his humor and engaging storytelling. He had the perfect balance of historical insight and wit, which kept us interested and entertained throughout the tour.

As for the cathedral itself, it’s simply breathtaking. The Gothic architecture, stained glass windows, and centuries of history wrapped into every corner left us in awe. The sheer scale and beauty of the building make it a must-visit, and seeing it with such a knowledgeable guide really brought everything to life. Canterbury Cathedral isn’t just a historical monument; it’s a living, breathing piece of history, and our experience there was nothing short of awe inspiring!

Highly recommended, especially if you can do a guided tour!

£17 per adult entry seemed a little expensive however this is negated by the fact children under 17 enter for free. Currently there are some repairs and renovation works happening which slightly affects your photo opportunities outside but this work is essential and definitely shouldn't put you off visiting. Upon entry the enormity of the detail and size of the building is apparent. We chose not to have the guide devices as our time was limited but would have been a great help. On our visit the organ was playing and added even more to the atmosphere. Well worth a visit!
