I've been here a few times throughout the years. I love this creative comic book store. I hesitate to call it that because it's more than that. It's not your average comic book store. It has comic books from other countries and some very interesting books. It also has Zines. The decor and vibe is great. Even the outside is different. It retains signage from a previous store, which was apparently a Bakery. Gabe, the owner, is super knowledgeable, helpful and very nice. I hope this place stays around for many, many more years.

Gabe is awesome. Friendly and willing to share his knowledge and passion on just about anything. It has been years that I have followed Desert Island and stepping into the shop didn’t disappoint! Desert island is one of the best resources for independent comics in New York City. It is the best place to find rare, unique, and beautiful comics and art. It’s a delight and a great place to support and discover.

Honestly not super into comic books but this cute shop made me want to check out some! They also have an all ages kids friendly section and colorful window display. My friend really had to use the bathroom so appreciated that they let them use the bathroom. They were super friendly as we browsed the different comics and books. Don’t forget to look up at the unique arrows ceiling display that looks like it is painted pages of books.

One of my favorite places to visit in Brooklyn and was my regular spot for comics when I lived there. When people would ask me what to do in Brooklyn I’d always recommend they try and visit. We need more small gems of business like this, not more liquor stores. I hope they’re not closing forever due to their Neighbors and their landlord’s greed.

The best comic shop in Brooklyn, maybe all of NYC area. Focused on smaller titles and weirdo art, this little shop is perfect for people who love comics but don't care about mainstream titles. Ask about Smoke Signal! This store publishes their own comic newspaper, and it's available for free!!
