This is a grueling week in many respects and in others it is relaxing.
For me it was 6 days of 4 hours of class time followed by 2-3 hours of homework.
The way I got through this class was to remind myself:
• Follow your teacher’s instructions. Pay attention. That part can be hard because as you focus on your drawing sound disappears.
• Cooperate. While that sounds easy, for me and at least one other person in the class I could see it was difficult.
• If you do miss an instruction, do not be afraid to ask nicely for him to repeat himself. He will be happy to do so.
• Don’t argue with the instructor. He is right even if your logical mind says otherwise.
• When the instructor points out something misperceived with your image, he is right, you just didn’t see it properly. Relax, and do what he says. Erasing is good and a right brain activity.
• Arguing that you are right is a left-brain activity, and by-the-way, he’s always right
• If you don’t want to do the self-portrait, do it anyway. Especially if you don’t want to do it. It will look so much better than the photo, and so much more artistic.
• Send him your before and after images. If you don’t that’s bad karma. And everyone will be so impressed with your improvement
Taking this class will teach you a great deal. It is just the beginning of a hopefully wonderful journey. Good luck!

I took this class thanks to a few recommendations and I am so happy I did. It really changes the way you look at the world, you start to observe things in relation to drawing. I can see why Brian also gives this class in a corporate setting - it is so much more than just drawing! My husband and I use some of the observations and techniques from class to describe solutions to problems now "its just about looking at the negative space" 🙂 . If you have the time to commit to this class it is worth it (we had some people in the class waking up at 3am to take it because of the time difference!) - both intense and rewarding.

A really fascinating experience! Reawakening the right side of the brain has been more beneficial than just the transformation in being able to draw. I am seeing the world more vibrantly, meaning that shapes, shadows and dimensions are more prominent and vivid. It's extraordinary really. Everyone should do this, as who doesn't want more of their brain online! We overuse the left side and so bringing the right onboard makes for more balance. The class was wonderful. Both Brian and Sophie are so wise, thoughtful and supportive. I am a clinical psychologist by training and found this to be truly remarkable from a neuroscience perspective. Plus, the joy of being able to sketch and draw while traveling is real for me now. So cool! Great energy present even though it was all online. In fact, we would not have been able to do this unless it was online as we are living in Italy. My daughter who is 10 years old did the first 5 days of the class and was so thrilled with her drawing of her hand and a chair. She had to end early due to summer camp starting but it was a great experience for her as well. Brian and Sophie were fantastic with her and another little boy who was in the class. The kids were so impressive and, again, I am all for the "A" Art in the current STEAM trend in early education. The peace sign hand below is my daughter's.

The course is a must for anyone even remotely interested in drawing. I always considered myself creative, but this course enabled me to see my abilities in a new light and instilled confidence towards me improving my skills. The methodical process, orientation towards truly "seeing" and encouragement to not doubt yourself was truly a gift. Thank you so much!!!

Best drawing course ever
I have never thought that I would be able to draw something complex at my age. But this 6-day online course taught by Brian Bomeisler has totally changed my mind and helped me make my dream come true.
Before the course, I was able to draw very simple drawings with monotonous lines; after the course, I’m now able to reproduce any photos that I have with lights and shadows as realistic as possible. I’m so happy.
The instructor Brian Bomeisler is a very kind, patient and positive teacher who has a wonderful pedagogy and brilliant approach to make things easy to understand.
The method of drawing on the right side of the brain initiated by Betty Edwards, his mother, is really an efficient way to produce wonderful and sophisticated drawings even if we just begin to draw, which is totally bluffing.
I’m quite amazed by the progress that I have made during this 6-days course.
I would recommend anybody, who wants to learn drawing skills rapidly and solidly, to attend to this course.
Thanks to Betty for your wonderful method and to Brian for your terrific teaching. Thanks to also Sophie for your organization.
I will continue practicing what I have learned from the course for the next step.

I purchased Betty Edwards' Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain 4 or 5 years ago after learning about it from one of my landscape drawing instructors. I tried some of the exercises in the book but wasn't consistently drawing. When I saw that the DRSB course was being offered online I jumped at the chance to take it. Brian and his daughter Sophie are very patient and encouraging instructors. I had a great time learning from them and from the other attendees and am now inspired maintain a sketchbook and practice the skills that we learned during class. Thank you Brian & Sophie!

I am so glad I took this class! Prior to this class my drawing “skills” were rudimentary. At the end of the class I was amazed by the self portrait I produced!
Brian is a very perceptive and patient teacher without whose encouragement I would not have progressed as I did. I loved the online format and as continually inspired by the other student’s artwork.
I now find myself looking at the world differently and noticing fascinating little details that I would not have seen before. I am also planning to continue drawing! Thank you Brian and Sophie!

The class was great, I went from not being able to draw on Day Zero to drawing a self portrait on Day six, which actually looked like me. Brian was great and opened my eyes to a lot of things the left hemisphere of my brain had overlooked for many years. I would definitely recommend the class to anyone who thinks they can't draw but would love to learn.
