I really enjoyed my visit to Liberty Hall and was amazed how much I learned about this incredible family. James Kenan(see the headstone picture) was a brigadier general in the NC Militia during the Revolutionary War and was at the battle of Moores Creek. The history puzzle pieces are coming together for me. The dogwood trees were starting to bud out, and the landscaping was coming to life. The tour is $5 for adults and worth it. I could post all of the interior pictures, but I don't want to spoil it for you. Take a Saturday and drive to Duplin County and check it out.

Quite a house museum given the age of the house and the fact most of the furnishings are original. Our guide was great and said she was a distant descendant of the Kenan family Note that tours of the Kenan Home are given everyday only at 10:30, 12:30, and 2:30, Tuesday - Saturday, so plan accordingly!

Excellent 2 hour tour, excellently preserved furnishings, household items, art, documents. Included some of the stories of the workers, and preservation of their history, too. It will be a long time before Southern history locations fully embrace our history, but this one has begun, and it makes the experience better. Overall, this tour was on par with museum homes in Charleston.

History is so vital to life. The staff love this house and those who lived in it. It makes the tour more interesting. There's a 13 minute video before the tour starts and it's about 1.5 hours total on site. $5 is not too bad for this tour.
