I’ve been visiting The Living Art Gallery for the last couple of years and am working with Monte Livingston on a full arm marine animal-themed sleeve inspired by the Planet Ocean mural on the Long Beach convention center. We have made a lot of progress and I’ve had so much fun collaborating with him.

Monte is a very talented artist (on and off skin), a great colorist, and runs a wonderful shop!

I won’t trust anyone else to tattoo my body except for Matt! Not only is his work absolutely phenomenal, but he’s also very personable and friendly. I’ve referred many friends here and will continue to do so. I suffer from keloid scarring and not once has he scarred me from a tattoo. Great vibes and great place, I got my first tattoo at this shop on Friday the 13th with Matt and came back a week after to get another one from him. I’m a big nerd and had to get Pokémon tattoos from him. His tattoo space is so fun and nerdy I knew I found the guy for my nerdy tattoos!

Living Art Gallery is the best tattoo and art gallery I've ever been to and Monte is a master of his craft.

I've been to him twice now and will absolutely be back for more work. I've never received so many compliments on my tattoos before.

The first time I saw Monte, I had a basic idea of what I wanted and he spent a good deal of time talking to me about the concept, the meaning behind my idea, and then he went and made a few sketches. He came back with incredible options. The way he understood and interpreted the idea I had into an actual piece of art was unreal. Never once did I feel rushed or pressured. When it was time to actually put it on my skin, he was very precise and spent time lining up the sketch to my skin before he used the needle. He wanted to make it perfectly aligned with my veins and he did exactly that. Then he tattooed me and it was relatively painless. Once we finished, he thoroughly explained aftercare instructions and gave me all the necessary products.

About a year later I went back to Monte. This time I had so many ideas and took up a lot of his time talking about all of them. Not once did he rush me. He listened to each and every idea until we landed on one that felt right. Again, he took his time sketching out his vision and again, it came out truly amazing. I couldn't be happier with his work.

Monte is a true artist in every sense of the word. You know this as soon as you meet with him. He deeply cares about his clients and the art he creates. People always ask me who did my tattoos and I always refer them to Monte.

In addition, the atmosphere is excellent. There's tons of art, the place is very clean, and everyone there is friendly. It truly is the best tattoo experience one could ever ask for.
