Regional museums have to showcase just that. The region. Local museums specialize in just that town or immediate vicinity and really give it the fanfare it deserves.
The Rio Vista Museum does not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, you're met with gracious docents and wonderful history. Then you find out the museum is far deeper than one might think at first sight. In square footage, exhibits, and history. From photos of the original businesses, homes, and first residents of the town to newspaper articles, front pages, and full copies to books and yearbooks and school photos and uniforms.
There is no shortage of military uniforms and memorabilia previously owned and honorably worn by proud local veterans.
There's antique farm equipment, autos, period machinery, and hand tools used to literally create the town, countryside, and shape the river going by our town.
Top that off with the sweet smells and tastes from the Christmas holiday festival and the beautiful crafts available as one toured the museum this past weekend.
This visit to the Rio Vista Museum was above and beyond, and the Rio Vista Museum never fails to deliver.

I'm happy to say that this was one of my favorite museum experiences. It is a small museum, but It has some very interesting history of the area. I was very fond of the items that were used for farming, and I liked the items that related to horses. I also liked the history of the local sports and high-school. You should most definitely check this place out. There is also one man who was working there, unfortunately I didn't really get his name. But I believe his name was Carlos. But he was very polite and helpful, and he gave suggestions of what we should do around rio vista. Such as go to local restaurants. I will 100% visit this museum again.

A little town museum worth a look and even a older typewriter that was before today's standard keyboard.

If it happened in Rio Vista between 1850 and 1960, you'll be able to learn about it here. Take your time, there's a lot more than you'd think tucked away.
