Terrible Service and Rude Staff at Roseville DMV

If I could give zero stars, I would. The staff at the Roseville DMV are some of the rudest, most unprofessional people I’ve ever encountered. Instead of helping customers, they act like they’re doing you a favor by simply doing their job. The long wait times are bad enough, but the attitude and lack of basic courtesy make the experience even worse.

Employees here seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful, dismissive, and impatient. Rather than providing clear instructions or assistance, they act annoyed if you ask a simple question. It’s as if they forget that their job is to serve the public, not to treat people like an inconvenience.

I understand that the DMV is a busy place, but that’s no excuse for the level of rudeness and inefficiency I experienced. If you have any other option, I highly recommend avoiding this location. The staff desperately need training in customer service and basic human decency.

I waited in line for an hour only to be told that it's another 3-4hr wait. Hire more people and post estimated wait times. Population grows, demand grows, you need to keep up with demand especially since it's state mandated.

I printed out an "Application for Refund" from the CA DMV website and filled it out. On the front page of the application, it literally says to submit the application to your nearest DMV office (I've included a picture of exactly what it says and where on the page it is.) I get here and ask the guy manning the front entrance if this is where I go since the line was so long. He said yes, this is the place! So I wait in line for ~45 minutes and get up to the front. The lady spends about 10 seconds looking at the application and tells me they don't accept them. I pointed out where it says, on the official DMV application, to bring it to your nearest DMV office. She said that it doesn't matter, they don't accept them here, and that was that. Glad I wasted 45 minutes in line after being told that I was in the correct spot. I don't know if they're just being willfully bad at communication or they actually have no idea what they're doing. Guess I'll go mail it now. I would have done that in the first place if the application didn't literally say I could drop it off in person.

Gets very busy here, especially mid-afternoon. It's best if you have an appointment. As of 2025, many routine tasks (like car registration renewals) are ONLY handled online or by using the kiosk at the DMV. About 3/4 of the chairs were occupied and the kiosk line was 15 people long when we were here 1/28/25 @ 3pm, and that's with most of the 21 service "windows" fully staffed.

I had an appointment to renew my license and had a great experience. I want to thank Kira, Candy, and Brandy for their help. They were all very thorough and did their jobs with smiles. I was done in 25 minutes. So make an appointment to speed through the process.

My faith in the California Department of Motor Vehicles has been renewed after coming here today, December 16, 2024, to renew my driver's license. Last time I was here five years and two days ago, it felt like a mess. I showed up early, like today, and I was there for a few hours. Today, I was in and out within 20 minutes. The lady who rang me up was super nice and even wished me a happy birthday, and the lady who took my picture was a little brash, but she wanted me out just as much as I wanted myself out. I look forward to coming back in 2029. Just hopefully not on my birthday, but that's what I got for slacking.

“There’s always room for improvement”.

This is way better than Folsom DMV. The staff are we’ll manage and have a great decent attitude. Unlike any other dmv around Sacramento.

The staff was nice, besides the supervisor who was next to the staff that was helping me. She was INCREDIBLY rude to me and told me to sit down and finish my paperwork. I fought back some tears because who talks to someone like that? Overall I got there early enough to get a ticket, and the experience went ok except for that. It’s not necessary to talk to anyone like that, especially since I was very friendly.
