Ruth is simply the truth! Not only is she incredibly talented and professional, but she’s also genuinely kind-hearted. I discovered her through a former roommate who had Ruth do a live painting at her wedding. Although my own wedding had already passed, I was thrilled to learn that Ruth offers post-wedding portraits. We exchanged a few emails to refine the vision and details—she was eager to capture what mattered most to us. The portrait arrived just in time for our first anniversary, and my immediate reaction was "WOW." Ruth managed to bring our first kiss as a married couple to life, using just a few videos and photos as reference. We’re so grateful to have this beautiful keepsake to cherish for many years to come!! Thanks again!

I highly recommend Ruth for your wedding painting! As soon as I found her and her work I booked her immediately! She was always professional, courteous and extremely nice! We planned a portrait capturing our rose ceremony with our daughter and it more than exceeded our expectations. The portrait was absolutely stunning and she captured every detail and was even better than I could have dreamed. We hired photographer and videographers for our wedding to capture everything and Ruth’s painting provided the perfect complement to both! She was great entertainment for our guests to watch her paint and definitely made our wedding more special. I highly recommend booking her for a live wedding painting and she even does post wedding portraits if she is unable for your date.

Simply put, we changed our wedding date to ensure Ruth could be there, and it was absolutely worth it! Her talent is truly incredible, and she's an absolute must-book. Throughout the event, our guests were captivated watching her painting evolve. If you're considering booking her, just do it—we couldn't be happier with our decision. Furthermore, we're grateful for Ruth's additional services, where you can send in pictures for other paintings. This is a huge bonus for us, as we eagerly anticipate commemorating future milestone events with her artwork.

I cannot begin to put into words how wonderful my experience with Ruth Oneya Illustrations was. My mother died relatively unexpectedly a few months before my sister got engaged, and I was looking for a way to “include” our mom in the wedding memories. I found out about live paintings and thought that would make a neat gift for my sister and future brother-in-law while also being a way to include Mom (and other deceased family members) when she obviously would not be in any photos from the wedding. It went perfectly! Ruth was truly a pleasure to work with from the first contact through the final painting delivery. I chose the purchase option that allowed for the couple’s immediate family to be included while also showing the bridal party in the background and was even able to get the couple’s dogs added in! I provided photo references for the deceased family members, and Ruth captured them (and everyone else) wonderfully! She is so talented in combining multiple moments/photos into a breathtaking final product. Additionally, the act of the live painting itself was such a unique addition to the wedding; many of the guests took time to watch her work and were very impressed with her skill and warm personality. Even after the wedding, Ruth kept in regular contact with me as she added the finishing touches to the artwork. When it was finished (perfectly on time with the schedule she had estimated), the piece was mailed to my sister and her husband and arrived in perfect condition. My sister said it was “the greatest gift [I] could have ever given [them].” (For reference, in the painting, the following people were deceased and were added in by Ruth, using photo references: on the left - the short woman in pink, the middle man with a blue tie, and the woman with longer blonde hair; on the right – the dark haired woman in a light-colored dress, and the white-haired man with a greyish tie. The dogs were also added.)

Ruth was one of the BEST parts of our wedding day in June 2023. Our guests loved her! She and our live band are the two things that our guests have told us were really special and unique about our wedding. We were able to spread the payments out over a year (starting when we booked), which helped a lot since most wedding vendors pay out right around wedding time. She was professional, communicative, and worked with our planner and photographer to get set up in the right spot at the venue and capture shots during our photo session prior to the ceremony. I could not recommend her enough--Birmingham is so lucky to have such a talented artist. I am filled with so much happiness knowing that her stunning artwork will hang in our home for years to come.

My husband and I felt honored to have Ruth paint our portrait during wedding day! She is so sweet and kind and very professional. She was so easy to communicate with and provided details whenever I asked. All of our guests LOVED seeing her progress on the painting throughout the night- such a hit! She was also kind enough to custom paint a champagne bottle for us with portraits of our beloved animals on the bottle. Such a keepsake we will treasure forever.

I just had Ruth to complete my 2nd memorial portrait and she goes beyond my wildest dreams! Each of my children married after they lost their grandfather. Ruth did a portrait putting him in a picture. I told her what I wanted and she exceeded my vision. I cannot recommend this lovely person enough. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is such a sweet soul to work with.
