Sklarsky Smith Studios is a hidden gem in Brooklyn. It features the work of Ian Sklarsky, who’s blind contour drawings are both beautiful and whimsical. The exhibit I saw was of elegant drawings of parrots perched on gold leaf branches. The artist is very prolific, and there were many examples of his work on display.

The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, and you may get to see and talk to the artist himself.

It’s well worth the visit.

I’ve admired Ian’s drawings for a long time. So fanciful and evocative. He’s done two commissions for me. I visited his studios last week. He’s so creative. Always a new idea or theme. Don’t forget to ask him about the bees!
