This was my first visit here, the food was lovely but the delivery couldn't have been slower, unfortunately. I had a group of three with reservations at 7:30PM. We had not gotten our appetizers till about 7:45 and our entrées till 9:12PM, they close at 9. The atmosphere was actually very warm and relaxing. We dined in what looked like a large sorta soothing sitting room or perhaps a large inviting living room. This is a historic place and the owners did nicely to retain its historic feel. Being our food took strangely long to get to our table and that we had three different servers gets this only 3 stars.

[[Update from restaurant's response]]

Tone deaf responses don't make the food or the overt racism any less noticeable. As others have pointed out, the food is based, the racism is worse. LOL, your book "recommendation".

Went there while staying in Tivoli. Upon walking in for dinner, a white older woman decided that getting a table for dinner required that I give my first and last name AND my phone number which she explained was "in case I left anything and the restaurant could get in touch with me". Funny thing is, on the same page where she wrote my "required" information, no other guests before me had that information written down. Funny, I guess only brown people require that we leave our information in case we leave our possessions behind. Are we more prone to forgetfulness or is there something else color-specific going on?

Let's get to the food.

As others have noted, completely underwhelming for the price of the meal. Squash blossoms were overcoated and bland. The mussels had much too much saffron to the point that that was the only flavor.

Service...

Our server, bless her heart, tried her best but honestly, I didn't know why she chose hospitality as her profession because she couldn't remember how to take a drink order, got confused about bread for the table, didn't understand basic questions about portion size of the entrees, didn't know how to pronounce affogato (which I wasn't sure why she was trying to get us to order), and overall just kept disappearing when we had questions about anything.

Don't go here. They seem to have some sort of issue with any clientele that isn't color-appropriate to suggesting that they need your phone number when all the less swarthy types have much better memory at remembering their belongings at the restaurant.

Advice to the restaurant...

You can do better in 2024 when it comes to not being overtly racist.

One of the top restaurants in the Hudson Valley. We had the steak(it was PERFECT), and a coconut crab dish that was one of the most unique and perfectly prepared dishes I have had in the Hudson Valley. I am not a big drinker, but the mixed drinks were so sublime that we had to try them. Everything they do is spot-on. It is better than any restaurant in Rhinebeck and might be top five in the entire area. The ethos is totally unpretentious and inviting. We just love The Corner. Tivoli is also a super charming destination.

Beautiful venue, great staff, very stylish. The bread they serve before dinner was notable and really wonderful. But the food overall is overpriced and underwhelming. I would expect a higher level at those prices. The steak was rare instead of medium rare, the $9 hassleback sweet potatoes were two tiny sweet potatoes that were raw on the inside. Overall I left feeling we had been swindled. But it’s a beautiful venue and the staff were very nice. Our waiter was great.
